Caring for your Lèmme knitwear
The fibres we work with:
cashmere, extrafine merino, cotton, silk, mohair, come from mills we have worked with for years.
Before Washing
Before washing, remove any pilling with a cashmere comb, gently.
Cashmere can pill in the first few times it is worn; lambswool may do so lightly in areas of friction. Our Cashwool® extrafine merino is antipilling by nature and does not require combing.
Washing
Hand wash in cool water with a small amount of wool or cashmere detergent.
Submerge the piece and move it gently through the water. Do not rub. Do not wring. Rinse two or three times, until the water runs clear and free of soap.
Remove the excess water with a clean towel.
For cotton: a gentle machine cycle at 30°C is also suitable.
Drying
At this point you can choose to let it dry flat on a horizontal surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Silk is particularly sensitive to light: always dry it in shade.
To restore volume and softness to cashmere, place the piece while still damp inside a pillowcase and put it in the dryer on no heat, on a low spin for 5 to 10 minutes. This step is optional, and serves only to bring out the softness of the knit.
Before seasonal storage, fold the piece clean. A bay leaf in the drawer keeps moths away.
